PICO Presentation Upload

The PICO presentations are organized centrally. Therefore, authors are kindly asked to upload their presentations either online in advance or at the PICO Preview Centre on-site in the Blue Poster Area (Hall Y, Basement). Both upload options are available throughout the entire conference but please make sure to finalize your upload by 08:00 of the day your PICO session is scheduled. An assistant will be available at the PICO Spot for any help.

Authors are kindly asked to prepare one presentation file fulfilling both needs, the introductory 2-minutes-madness as well as the following intensive viewing and discussions. Please include the summary of your work on the first two slides followed by an unlimited number of slides going more into detail. The touch screens show a size of 42". The operating system is Windows 7 and they have internet access. Although the screens are in the 16:9 widescreen format, we recommend to produce Power Points in the classical 4:3 format. The extra space is used for the branding of the contribution as well as the navigation. The touch screens show three button allowing you to move forwards and backwards in the presentation as well as to access the table of contents (PICO programme) of that particular session.

More about PICO Presentations

PICO presentations are organized in sessions scheduled at so-called PICO Spots. A PICO presentation might be a Power Point one, a movie, an animation, or simply a PDF showing your research on a display. A PICO Spot is a combination of an audience sitting in front of a screen together with a number of touch screen displays (PICO Screens). The PICO session starts with a 2-minutes-madness, where all authors present the essence of their work in 2 minutes each. Afterwards, the audience is using the PICO Screens spread in the PICO Spot to view again their PICO presentation(s) of interest. Authors are standing next to their scheduled screen to show their PICO presentation. A PICO presentation should be composed in a way to fulfil both requirements in one file, the 2 minute overview as well as the extensive viewing afterwards. To give you an idea how your PICO could look like please see the presentation of Stolk et al. (2013) based on Power Point and presented at the EGU General Assembly 2013. Please also download the manual: How to prepare a PICO (example by Ward Stolk, GFZ Potsdam, Germany)

The PICO sessions are scheduled in four time blocks per day, each time block with 90 minutes. A time blocks starts with 20 PICOs as 2-minutes-madness presentations in a row. Before the next block of presentations start, the PICO Viewing time for these 20 presentations is reserved. The viewing time provides one touch screen display per PICO contribution and the programme shows the respective time and PICO Screen number per author. Authors are standing next to their scheduled screen to show their PICO presentation and to answer questions from the attendees.
